The health secretary is the first woman to lead her party in Wales and is now set to become the first female first minister, and the third this year. On Wednesday, Ms Morgan was backed by 26 of the 30-strong Labour group in the Welsh parliament.
Ms Morgan has promised to unify Welsh Labour and said the party owed Wales an apology for weeks of difficulties. The Welsh government, she said, had not made 'a good fist' of things recently.
