Two bars in Queens, Juan Bar and Trans Pecos, faced backlash after booking bands, Volahn and Zoloa, linked to alleged neo-Nazi imagery and history. Eduardo Ramirez, a key member in both bands, has affiliations with hate groups and has been noted for past performances with Nazi-associated bands. Following a wave of online criticism, particularly from Reddit users, Trans Pecos canceled its show within an hour, citing a lack of awareness regarding the bands' backgrounds. The incidents highlight ongoing concerns about neo-Nazi connections in New York's music scene.
Trans Pecos booked this event through a friend who often steers punk and hardcore events in New York City. We didn’t know the other bands on the bill.
When the Reddit post explaining the controversy with Eduardo Ramirez got forwarded to us by many people, it was news to us.
We did our research and quickly concluded that there was a lot of evidence that this guy has a history of connections to neo-nazi groups.
The planned events were far from the first time bands with alleged Nazi ties have booked shows in the Big Apple.
