NJ Transit reduced Midtown Direct service to place a new Portal North Bridge track into service, rerouting all Midtown Direct trains to Hoboken Terminal until March 15. Hoboken Terminal experienced heavy crowds and controlled chaos during the morning rush as commuters were redirected to PATH, NY Waterway ferries, and other options. NJ Transit customer service workers directed lines and assisted passengers unfamiliar with connections. Some trains were canceled and many experienced delays, with some delays reaching 50 minutes.
