Police said at least five firefighters on board the fire truck were taken to the hospital, as was the driver of the commercial van, the driver of the Lexus, the driver of the Access-A-ride bus and two other passengers on board."
A multi-vehicle collision occurred in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn at approximately 6:45 p.m. involving an FDNY fire truck with active lights and sirens that struck a white commercial van, an Access-A-Ride vehicle, and a Lexus at the intersection of Avenue South and West 11th Street. A 78-year-old passenger on the Access-A-Ride van was killed in the crash. At least five firefighters from the fire truck, along with drivers and passengers from the other vehicles, were hospitalized with injuries reported as stable. No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
