The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a special plaque to honour both athletes whose deaths shocked both the east Cork town and wider world of Irish sport.
They died on August 20, 2023 after they separately experienced difficulties in the water during the challenge, amidst challenging sea conditions that day.
The plaque states that Mr Chittenden was 'brilliant in life, love and legacy.' It also mentions the 'warm smile and boundless love' of Brendan Wall.
Organisers said they wanted to ensure that the lives of the two men 'will forever be etched into the heart of Youghal', reflecting the community's deep respect.
