A tragic traffic collision occurred in Astoria, Queens, resulting in the death of 39-year-old Antonio Hernandez-Bazan, who was riding a moped. He was struck by a 2019 Subaru Forester driven by a 22-year-old man at the intersection of 37th Street and 23rd Avenue. Hernandez-Bazan suffered severe head trauma and died at NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst. The Subaru driver and a passenger remained at the scene. Currently, no arrests have been made, while the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad investigates the incident further. Traffic fatalities have decreased compared to last year.
