Metal detectors were installed Tuesday in the massive 47 Hall St. shelter near Park Avenue, adding to the scanners already standing in the Ryerson site a block away, according to City Hall.
Mayor Eric Adams stated that downsizing or moving the controversial Brooklyn migrant shelters demanded by neighbors is unlikely due to the challenge of finding alternative locations.
Residents expressed concerns about the impact of housing nearly 4,000 migrants in tight quarters, citing safety and scale issues, suggesting that a smaller shelter size would be more suitable.
