'A line was crossed,' says minister who had cow dung flung at her, as farmer convicted of assault

Being a politician, one expects the rough and tumble of debate at all times, and what we have seen today is that the line was crossed (that night) and the judge acknowledged that the line was crossed and I am glad that this has been brought to a conclusion. This is the end of it as far as I am concerned.

Given the nature of what's occurred, it’s important to recognize that there is a proper way to express one's views. A line was clearly crossed, and it's crucial that we reaffirm how public discourse must unfold respectfully.

The assault is very clearly set out on CCTV, which is the best evidence before the court and shows the full nature of what occurred including the injured party's reaction and thus apprehension.

There is a line and you can't cross the line. Numerous ways exist to engage and share your point of view, but premeditated actions leading to violence are unacceptable.
