"I was just thankful enough to be nominated for this award and that they see the work I love doing in the community. I don't do it for any awards, I don't do it for any accolades, but just to be out in the community and how I was raised from mom and dad: just show you the right way to do things and always give back to people less fortunate than you."
"It's a huge testament to them and a lot of older guys I look up to. They just showed me the way, like, 'You want to be here, you want to be part of this community, it's better to just be part of it and make a difference than be part of it and don't do anything at all.' I took that to heart, and tonight is a huge night for myself."
