Patriots benefit from Panthers win to gain ground on No. 1 draft pick
Briefly

The New England Patriots lost their game against the Kansas City Chiefs and are now 3-11 on the year. But while they continued to play disappointing football in their 27-17 loss to the defending Super Bowl champions, there is a silver lining to take away from Sunday: the Patriots have secured their spot near the top of the draft board.
In fact, they even managed to gain ground on the No. 1 overall pick. Thanks to the Carolina Panthers beating the Atlanta Falcons 9-7 to improve to 2-12 on the year, they are now only one game behind in the standings.
