The Patriots held their first OTA session with media present, and head coach Mike Vrabel spoke to reporters before practice. He faced questions after the draft and amid ongoing controversy involving NFL insider Dianna Russini. Reporters also asked about the Patriots’ interest in adding a receiver, with AJ Brown trade speculation tied to a presumed June 2 timeframe. Vrabel did not offer any new information about Brown or the status of negotiations. He instead emphasized the team’s general goal of improving the roster whenever possible. The lack of specifics continues despite beliefs that an unofficial agreement may exist between the teams.
"That's not much different than what we've heard from him and even GM Eliot Wolf since the conversation about Brown being traded has been connected to New England, and even though the suspected date the Eagles will move him is right around the corner, they're refusing to provide any more information on whether they are nearing a deal. It has long been believed that the teams have struck an unofficial deal to send Brown to Foxboro, and that's a big reason they didn't make any legitimate moves for a receiver."
