For third offseason in a row, a Patriots kicker competition looms
Briefly

The New England Patriots are entering another offseason with uncertainty at the kicker position, now led by John Parker Romo. After Joey Slye signed with the Titans, Romo is left as the only kicker on the roster. Special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer has confirmed that he intends to bring in another kicker either through the draft or by signing an undrafted free agent. He emphasized the importance of the kicker's character, highlighting the need for a player who can integrate well with teammates and consistently perform.
First and foremost, the character part of it is really important. I don't want just a kicker. I want a guy that's gonna be great in the locker room.
It's a typical situation for most NFL teams who hardly have the advantage of a franchise kicker like New England had in Gostkowski.
Joey Slye was acceptable for New England last season, finishing the year with a 78.8 field goal percentage and a 96.2 extra point percentage.
The lone kicker on the roster, John Parker Romo, will compete with another kicker for the starting job this summer.
