Nylander scored on a breakaway on the game's first shot after John Tavares intercepted a Jonathan Huberdeau pass. Nylander added two primary assists, hit the post, and held a 66 percent share of expected goals at 5-on-5. Nylander returned from a groin injury that kept him out 18 games and posted his best performance of the 2026 calendar year. The Maple Leafs still were outshot 30-22 and displayed uneven play and poor processing across several lines.
