Veteran Goaltender Hangs up His Pads After 7 Seasons
"I wanted to thank all of the people that believed in me and supported me throughout my career. Lots of ups and downs. An undrafted 6-foot-tall goalie that was given a chance by the San Jose Sharks organization. When I look at some of the names I had the privilege of working with like Nabokov, Thornton, Pavelski, Marleau, Couture, Karlsson, Burns and so many great players that I will always consider friends, I feel very fortunate. I want to thank all the on and off"
"Later in his career, he manned the pipes for the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres. The Alberta native would rejoin San Jose in 2022, where he would make four appearances (0-3-0 record) to the tune of a .913 save percentage. Dell spent the entire 2024-25 season split between Sharks' minor league affiliates, the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL and the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL."
Aaron Dell retired from the NHL after 13 professional seasons, finishing with 130 regular-season games, four playoff contests, a .905 save percentage, a 2.92 goals-against average and a 50-50-13 record. Dell announced his retirement via Instagram and thanked teammates, coaches and staff, calling himself an undrafted 6-foot goalie who earned a chance with the San Jose Sharks. Dell posted a standout rookie year in 2016-17 with a .931 save percentage, 2.00 GAA and an 11-6-1 record in 20 games. He later played for the Devils and Sabres, rejoined San Jose in 2022, and spent 2024-25 in the AHL and ECHL.
