The AHL announced Todd Nelson as the recipient of the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award for leading the Hershey Bears to a historic regular season, finishing with a .771 points percentage, the best in the franchise's 86-year history, and second-best in AHL history.
Nelson, a former Capitals player, secured his place in AHL history with 406 career wins, seventh in the league. He also became the sixth Bears coach to win the Coach of the Year award, with past winners including Barry Trotz and Peter Laviolette.
