Rangers place Carson Soucy on IR; Recall Connor Mackey - Blue Seat Blogs
"The injury bug is biting the Rangers early. Just one game after Vincent Trocheck goes down for multiple weeks with an upper body injury, the Rangers placed Carson Soucy on IR with an upper body injury. Soucy took a rough spill into the boards last night in Pittsburgh. He immediately went to the locker room and did not return. It's safe to say Soucy's upper body injury is a concussion, though that will never get confirmed by the NHL."
"With Soucy on IR, the Rangers recalled defenseman Connor Mackey. It's interesting the Rangers recalled Mackey over Scott Morrow, but my guess is they prefer Morrow get big minutes in Hartford instead of rotating as a third pair defenseman and a healthy scratch with the Rangers."
Vincent Trocheck sidelined for multiple weeks with an upper-body injury was followed by Carson Soucy being placed on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury sustained during a collision with the boards in Pittsburgh. Soucy left the game immediately and did not return; the injury is likely a concussion despite no official NHL confirmation. In response, the Rangers recalled defenseman Connor Mackey to replace Soucy on the roster. The team chose Mackey over prospect Scott Morrow, reportedly preferring to keep Morrow in Hartford to receive significant minutes rather than serve as a third-pair option or healthy scratch in New York.
