Morning Skate: Local
Briefly

The Bruins continue to take care of minor pieces of business, announcing Tuesday that they've signed forward Marc McLaughlin to a one-year, two-way deal worth $775,000 at the NHL level. He'll likely spend the majority of the season in Providence, but has proven himself a capable NHL fill-in when called upon.
In other NHL news, Joe Pavelski, as expected, announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday. The longtime San Jose Shark indicated he was done after the Dallas Stars season ended, but confirmed it yesterday.
While Egypt has a young program at the men's international level, they're hoping to join the IIHF as associate members. Plus, they have a pretty sweet logo. There are actually a lot of full or associate IIHF members in the region, including Algeria, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates. Hockey continues to grow globally.
Anyways, the big soccer tournaments are over, the NHL is kind of slumbering, and even baseball is taking a breather. We are in the doldrums.
