Leon Muggli, an 18-year-old Swiss defenseman, signed a three-year entry-level deal with an annual salary of $975k with the Washington Capitals. He was the team's 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Muggli led all under-18 skaters in scoring in the Swiss National League, setting a new record for defensemen age 17 or younger. He previously played in the U18 World Championship and U20 World Juniors for Switzerland.
The Washington Capitals have signed three players from their 2024 draft class including top pick Terik Parascak and third-round pick Ilya Protas. They also secured Cam Allen from their 2023 draft class.
