Kashawn Aitcheson was reassigned to the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League following the conclusion of New York Islanders training camp. Islanders head coach Patrick Roy praised Aitcheson's play and physicality and compared Aitcheson's experience to his own early camp confidence. Aitcheson suffered a knee-on-knee lower-body collision in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers but returned the next game against the New Jersey Devils, logging 17:48 of ice time and recording a takeaway. Aitcheson was the 17th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and scored 59 points (26 goals, 33 assists) in 64 OHL games last season.
