The first goal came at 7:21 on a five-on-three power play from the left faceoff circle, beating Wild goaltender Alex Stalock. The Capitals then scored twice in 31 seconds, including a goal by Ovechkin at 10:59 off a pass sequence from Ilya Kovalchuk to Kuznetsov. Richard Panik also scored, Kovalchuk logged his first point with the team, and Stalock finished with 26 saves.
