Dylan Strome, who's from Canada, agrees that he'll root for Team USA if Tom Wilson is not chosen to represent Team Canada at 2026 Winter Olympics
""Did you see what Bissonnette said recently?" Strome replied. "That's how I feel. I'll say that." Bissonnette, nearly a week ago, appeared on Monumental Sports Network's Hockey Lifers podcast and told Bruce Boudreau and Jeff Marek that, "If [Wilson] doesn't play for Team Canada, I'll be rooting for the United States." Strome's comments come after Hockey Canada executives recently met in Florida to discuss their 25-man roster ahead of the December 31 roster submission deadline."
"According to recent reporting from The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, the management group wanted to come out of their meetings with a majority of the team decided, with seven or eight spots remaining up for debate. Wilson will likely be among the bubble players discussed. The Capitals' right wing is already on their radar, as he was one of 42 players invited to Canada's National Teams Orientation Camp this summer."
"So far, the 31-year-old Wilson has done all that he can to impress Team Canada decision makers, including Doug Armstrong (GM, St. Louis Blues), Julien BriseBois (GM, Tampa Bay Lightning), Jim Nill (GM, Dallas Stars), Don Sweeney (GM, Boston Bruins), and Kyle Dubas (GM, Pittsburgh Penguins). He currently leads the Capitals in goals (17) and points (32), putting him on pace for career highs in each category (45 goals and 85 points)."
Dylan Strome publicly agreed with Paul Bissonnette that he would be upset if Tom Wilson is left off Canada's 2026 Olympic roster and said he might root for the United States in that case. Hockey Canada executives met in Florida to work toward a 25-man roster, leaving seven or eight spots undecided, with Wilson considered a likely bubble player. Wilson was invited to Canada's National Teams Orientation Camp and currently leads the Washington Capitals in goals (17) and points (32), appearing on pace for career highs while playing in all situations including the penalty kill.
