Alex Ovechkin recorded a hat trick and five points during Pavel Datsyuk's farewell "Magic Game" and later reunited for dinner with former Capitals linemates Sergei Fedorov, Alex Semin, and Viktor Kozlov. The photo shows Datsyuk and other guests standing while the four sit together. Semin, Kozlov, and Fedorov combined to assist on 74 of Ovechkin's goals in the first decade of his career, with Semin contributing 45. Kozlov was signed ahead of 2007-08 to replace Dainius Zubrus and centered the first line with Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom for two seasons, during which Ovechkin won Hart and Rocket Richard trophies and posted career highs.

Ahead of the 2007-08 season, Kozlov was signed by then-Capitals' general manager George McPhee in an effort to replace Dainius Zubrus, who was dealt at the trade deadline the previous year. Kozlov played two seasons with the Capitals, primarily playing on the first line with Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Ovechkin won the Hart and Rocket Richard trophies in both campaigns, scoring a career-high 65 goals and 112 points during their first season playing together.
