Late in the first period Dylan Strome won a draw and fed Alex Ovechkin at the top of the left circle, but the play was whistled dead for a new faceoff. Ovechkin picked up the puck on his stick blade and flung it high into the air without looking back at the official, a moment labeled 'Ovi with some wizardry' by Bleacher Report. During an ESPN TV timeout Ovechkin located Nikita Kucherov on Tampa Bay’s bench and the two shared a laughing conversation that amused analyst Ray Ferraro. Ovechkin danced at center ice after Jakob Chychrun scored the overtime winner, securing a third straight Capitals victory. Ovechkin has started the season slowly on the scoresheet but remains entertaining.
