"Leafs end the calendar year of 2025 with a standing ovation and it's well-deserved tonight. Brought the energy, good structure against a Devils team that plays with pace. Woll outstanding, Knies with a few signature moments and maybe McMann/Robertson's best games of the season. They're playing Wonderwall loudly over the PA as we enter the second intermission, as Joseph Woll has been outstanding through two periods."
"They're playing Wonderwall loudly over the PA as we enter the second intermission, as Joseph Woll has been outstanding through two periods. Now we gotta wait until next year to see who gets the belt next... (I'm sorry) Matthew Knies had enough of Nico Hischier off the faceoff. Knies drops Hischier rather easily in one of the best fights in recent Leafs' history."
Toronto Maple Leafs closed the 2025 calendar year amid a standing ovation after an energetic, well-structured performance against the New Jersey Devils. Joseph Woll delivered an outstanding showing, keeping the team competitive through two periods. Matthew Knies produced a few signature moments and engaged Nico Hischier in one of the best recent Leafs fights, dropping Hischier off a faceoff. McMann and Robertson recorded possibly their best games of the season. Fans loudly heard Oasis' Wonderwall over the arena PA during the second intermission. The team’s structure and energy contained the Devils’ pace and earned clear crowd appreciation.
