"The changes Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles is making to his staff are extensive, with five coaches terminated -- offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard, special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, quarterbacks coach Thaddeus Lewis, cornerbacks coach Kevin Ross and defensive line coach Charlie Strong -- and two more retiring in senior offensive assistant Tom Moore and safeties coach Nick Rapone. A source told ESPN that these were not moves mandated by ownership"
"Four of those coaches -- Lewis, Ross, Moore and Rapone -- were members of the Bucs' 2020 Super Bowl winning staff under Bruce Arians, for whom Bowles took over in 2022. Bowles' relationships with Ross and Rapone stretch back over 40 years to when Bowles was a player at Temple and they were members of Arians' staff. Bowles signed an extension"
Todd Bowles executed a major coaching overhaul, terminating five coaches and accepting two retirements. The dismissed coaches included offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard, special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, quarterbacks coach Thaddeus Lewis, cornerbacks coach Kevin Ross and defensive line coach Charlie Strong. Senior offensive assistant Tom Moore and safeties coach Nick Rapone retired. A source said the moves were made by Bowles himself rather than mandated by ownership. Four of the affected coaches were part of the Buccaneers' 2020 Super Bowl staff under Bruce Arians, and Bowles has multi-decade relationships with Ross and Rapone. Bowles had signed an extension through 2028 after recent division success, but the team collapsed late in the 2025 season, finishing 8-9.
