Why the NFL just put AI on its roster
Briefly

On Aug. 20, the NFL and Microsoft announced an expanded multiyear partnership to deploy Azure AI and Microsoft Copilot across the league. Coaches and players from all 32 teams will access upgraded Sideline Viewing System tablets, now configured as SurfaceCopilot+ PCs, for real-time data and analysis on game day. Dashboards will enable filtering plays, reviewing scoring plays and penalties, and analyzing formations and coverage. Thirty franchise stadiums will receive AI tools to streamline operations. Microsoft positioned the effort as enhancing preparation and the ability to act quickly, while coaches noted Copilot's role in breaking down complex data into digestible insights.
