Vikes' Kelly to IR after 3rd concussion of season
"So much respect for Ryan as a player,"
"and the way he took the amount of time he did and was fighting to get back on the field and felt ready to go. We were holding back a little bit beyond that. And then, when he returned to the field, the impact he's had on our offense over these last few games have been massive."
Ryan Kelly was placed on injured reserve after suffering his third concussion of the season, ending his 2025 season and possibly his career. Kelly, 32, has six documented concussions since entering the NFL as a 2016 first‑round pick. He missed nearly two months earlier this season after concussions in Weeks 2 and 4, returned in Week 12 with a new helmet model and a Guardian Cap, and started five consecutive games before sustaining another concussion on a routine collision with Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke. The Vikings signed him to a two‑year, $18 million deal; he started eight games and played 314 snaps. Backup Michael Jurgens is expected to start against the Lions.
