"SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- With four games scheduled in the next 23 days, the San Francisco 49ers are placing tight end George Kittle on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday. Kittle, who suffered the injury in the first half of Sunday's victory against the Seattle Seahawks, will miss games at New Orleans, home against Arizona and Jacksonville and at the Los Angeles Rams."
"The Niners also are making a change at kicker, as they are set to waive Jake Moody, a source told ESPN on Tuesday. The decision comes after Moody missed a 27-yard field goal and had a 36-yard attempt blocked against Seattle. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that a stay on IR for Kittle was under consideration. "When they tell me a few weeks, it's always a possibility," Shanahan said. "In order to do that, it's got to be a four-week injury.""
George Kittle suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the win over Seattle and is being placed on injured reserve, forcing him to miss four upcoming games at New Orleans, versus Arizona and Jacksonville, and at the Los Angeles Rams. The timing of the Rams game on Thursday Night Football made the IR decision more academic. Under return-from-IR rules, the earliest Kittle could return is Oct. 12 at Tampa Bay, allowing additional recovery time after the Thursday night game. The 49ers plan to waive kicker Jake Moody after a missed 27-yard field goal and a blocked 36-yard attempt. Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated a multi-week IR stint was a real possibility, noting a four-week minimum for such a move.
