In Charlotte, rookie quarterback Tyler Shough earned his first career win, completing 19-of-27 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The victory gave the 2-8 Saints their first win since Week 5 against the New York Giants. Shough described a celebratory locker-room atmosphere and emphasized learning, competing and repeating as keys to future success. He became the first Saints rookie to start and win a game since Dave Wilson in 1981. Shough took over in Week 8 after Spencer Rattler was benched and was named starter for the rest of the season.
