Amazon MGM Studios has released the first image of Nicolas Cage portraying John Madden in an upcoming film that chronicles his notable career, including his successful NFL coaching tenure and the development of the Madden NFL video game franchise. With a cast featuring Christian Bale as Al Davis and John Mulaney, the film is currently in production. Directed by David O. Russell, the film aims to capture Madden's lasting legacy in sports. Madden's passing in 2021 is also honored through EA Sports.
The film follows Madden's remarkable journeyâfrom his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history.
Cage joined the biopic in August, and the cast includes John Mulaney as EA founder Trip Hawkins and Kathryn Hahn as Madden's wife, Virginia.
