Rookie safety Shilo Sanders was informed he was being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being ejected for throwing a punch in the third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. Sanders struck tight end Zach Davidson following heavy pushing and shoving, and teammate John Bullock attempted to calm him. Sanders was also penalized for defensive pass interference earlier in the game. He had been competing for the fourth safety spot behind Antoine Winfield Jr., Tykee Smith and Christian Izien as NFL teams trim rosters to 53 players. Agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey said they hope he is claimed on waivers. Sanders signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent and is one of Deion Sanders' sons.
We're hoping he gets claimed on waivers,
You can't throw punches in this league -- that's inexcusable,
They're going to get you every time. You've got to grow from that.
