Aaron Rodgers downplayed the significance of returning to MetLife Stadium for the Steelers' Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets, repeatedly calling it simply 'Week 1' and saying he would be excited. Rodgers was released by the Jets in March after a difficult two-year stint that began with a season-ending Achilles injury in 2023 and concluded with a 5-12 2024 season. Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to June minicamp after a prolonged courtship. The Jets signed Justin Fields to a two-year, $40 million deal.
