Gardner-Johnson struggled to pick up coach DeMeco Ryans' defensive scheme, which led to several big plays against the Texans' secondary in the first three weeks as the team started 0-3. Gardner-Johnson, 27, has 18 career interceptions and 51 passes defended over seven NFL seasons.
