""I barely played last year," he said Saturday."
""I've been training a lot, and it's been part of my training routine," he said of making one-handed catches. "It was the perfect opportunity, and I just fully extended.""
""The zip how fast that ball comes in, it's a lot of hand-eye coordination," he said of lacrosse."
Ty Plinski is a 6-foot-3 senior receiver at Corona Centennial High who made one catch last season and became a media sensation after a spectacular one-handed touchdown catch in a win over Servite. The play earned the No. 1 spot on ESPN's SportsCenter and generated dozens of texts from friends, coaches and recruiters. Plinski said he has trained one-handed catches as part of his routine and credited lacrosse skills and hand-eye coordination for the play. Quarterback Dominick Catalano recovered a dropped ball and found Plinski, who finished with four receptions in the 42-14 victory. Plinski said he keeps playing because of passion and strong teammates.
