Patriots captain believes defense showed 'glimpse of dominance' vs. Raiders
""I feel like we came out with good energy. ... I felt like you could see the glimpse of dominance that our defense has," Landry said."
""We all know on the defensive side of the ball, the sky's the limit for us," Landry said. "I think for us it's just that consistency snapping in and snapping out and not having any lapses. You can easily tell that we have so much potential on that side of the ball."
New England lost 20-13 to the Raiders but the defense showed notable promise. Harold Landry III recorded 2.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss while expressing optimism about the unit's ceiling. The Patriots limited Las Vegas to 56 rushing yards and generated pressure through multiple players. Defensive free-agent additions included Landry, DT Milton Williams, LB Robert Spillane, CB Carlton Davis, and EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson. Williams recorded two quarterback hits and seven total pressures. Next Gen Stats credited Landry and Williams with seven pressures each. New England invested heavily in defense during the offseason.
