Packers sign QB Ridder with Love, Willis still iffy
""Luckily for all of us, he's had experience in similar systems," LaFleur said. "He was with Vegas last year with [Packers senior assistant Luke] Getsy. He's been in Atlanta with Arthur Smith, and Arthur and I have obviously worked together before. So there is some common language, I would say. I know, just talking to him, he was in Minnesota, and I'm sure that Kevin [O'Connell's] got so"
""We've got four guys on our roster," LaFleur said when asked to assess the quarterback position. "That's where we're at.""
The Green Bay Packers added Desmond Ridder to the practice squad to provide a fourth quarterback option in case Jordan Love or Malik Willis are unavailable for the regular-season finale at Minnesota. Coach Matt LaFleur indicated some starters will be rested ahead of the playoffs but did not specify which ones. Love remains in the concussion protocol after missing last week's game, and Willis continues to manage a right shoulder injury; both practiced on a limited basis Wednesday. Clayton Tune is already on the practice squad and finished the recent loss after Willis aggravated his throwing shoulder. Ridder, 26, has spent parts of this season with Minnesota without appearing in a game, was a 2022 third-round pick by Atlanta, has 25 career games with 18 starts, and has prior experience in similar offensive systems with coaches and assistants connected to Green Bay.
