NFL: Daniel Jones suffers season-ending Achilles injury as Colts fade
""That's our team leader, our team captain," the wide receiver said. "It's brutal.""
""It could be season-ending," he said. When asked to clarify, Steichen added, "It's not looking good.""
""Daniel's the toughest guy that I've ever been around, by far, in my life," Leonard said."
Daniel Jones suffered a torn Achilles late in the opening quarter during a rain-soaked game, collapsing after planting awkwardly while dropping back to pass. Trainers examined him in a medical tent and he was quickly ruled out, visibly frustrated as he slammed his helmet and headed to the locker room. Colts coach Shane Steichen warned the injury "could be season-ending" and said "it's not looking good." Jones had been playing through a believed hairline fracture in his left fibula. Rookie Riley Leonard replaced him, completing 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards, and praised Jones for his toughness and support. The Colts, previously on a record offensive pace, now face a fade and a difficult upcoming schedule without their captain.
