Miki Sudo continued her dominance, winning her 11th championship and solidifying her position as the top women's competitive eater. Despite missing the previous year's contest, Chestnut expressed confidence about his performance with no ill feelings towards Nathan's, emphasizing his commitment to the brand over rival sponsors. He highlighted his physical readiness and eagerness to regain his title.
"My body feels amazing. Some days, you wake up and your body is not cooperating, but I feel like everything is going well," Chestnut told the New York Post.
"I should be able to get that title back," he then vowed. Despite feeling upset about how the situation was handled last year, Chestnut had no bad feelings towards Nathan's as he returned to his favorite eating contest.
"While I have and continue to partner with a variety of companies, including some in the plant-based space, those relationships were never a conflict with my love for hot dogs," Chestnut said.
"To be clear: Nathan's is the only hot dog company I've ever worked with. I respect that there were differences in interpretation, but I'm grateful we've been able to find common ground."
