Jayden Daniels will miss second consecutive start with knee injury
"Daniels has been pushing to return to the field and said in a news conference Wednesday that he feels good and unencumbered by the knee injury, which he suffered Sept. 11 against the Green Bay Packers. But he was also limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, then not seen at the portion of Friday's practice that was open to reporters. The team appears to be taking a cautious approach to his recovery."
"Friday's announcement capped another will-he-or-won't-he week at the Commanders' practice facility in Ashburn, where Daniels practiced all week but in a limited capacity. During portions of practices open to reporters Wednesday and Thursday, he was seen participating in individual drills and smiling between repetitions. On Wednesday, Daniels answered multiplequestions about his knee with variations of "I feel good." But he also acknowledged that the call about whether he played Sunday would not be his to make."
"The Commanders also will be without star wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who did not practice this week with a quad injury. McLaurin sought multiple opinions on the injury this week and is not expected to require surgery, NFL Network reported Thursday night."
Quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss a second consecutive start due to a sprained left knee suffered Sept. 11 against Green Bay. Daniels practiced in a limited fashion this week, participated in individual drills during open sessions, and reported feeling good, but he was absent from Friday's open portion and has not been cleared by team doctors. Marcus Mariota, who started last week and led Washington to a 41-24 win over the Raiders, will start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Star receiver Terry McLaurin did not practice with a quad injury, sought multiple medical opinions, and is not expected to need surgery.
