Jaguars eye bigger offensive role for Hunter
"Scheming him open is part of it, No. 1,"
"Our job as an offensive staff [is] to make sure we're putting him in the progression and putting him in the position to be No. 1 [option] a little bit more often in some ways."
"And then when he is the primary [option] , we've got to throw and catch. We've got to make sure that we identify it, find him, be able to be at the right spot at the right time. So, I think it's a combination of a lot of those things that ultimately can all be controlled."
The Jaguars are prioritizing designing and calling more plays that make Travis Hunter the No. 1 offensive option to leverage his speed and athleticism. The team is practicing at The Grove in London ahead of Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium. Hunter had four catches for 15 yards on seven targets against Seattle, his lowest receiving yardage of the season. The push to feature Hunter more is linked to struggles by receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who leads the team with 24 catches for 334 yards but has multiple drops, including critical third-down and fourth-down errors. The offensive staff plans to place Hunter higher in progressions and focus on identifying, finding and delivering the ball to him at the right spot and time.
