""It's going to be fixable, nothing long term there, but he will be out for the remainder of the season," Napier said."
""The kid has been back in here since Sunday, working his butt off Monday," Napier said. "[Tuesday] had a really good day. We can't control that outside narrative, obviously, but he's just fine. ... That's a total myth that's out there.""
""100 percent,""
Florida starting cornerback Dijon Johnson underwent knee surgery Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the season. Johnson suffered the injury in Saturday's loss to Miami while tackling wide receiver Malachi Toney on a third-down play in the second half. Johnson made his eighth consecutive start in the Miami game, recorded four tackles and a pass breakup, and entered the season as a 2023 top-100 recruit who had 25 tackles and five starts last season. Coach Billy Napier described the injury as fixable but season-ending. Quarterback DJ Lagway is "100 percent," practiced in a protective boot and will remain with the team. Napier called speculation that Lagway might opt out "comical" and said he will keep calling offensive plays as Florida prepares for an off week before hosting No. 10 Texas on Oct. 4.
