Falcons sign S Jordan Fuller, again
Briefly

Jordan Fuller re-signed with the Falcons after Bralen Trice was placed on injured reserve. Fuller had been the Falcons' veteran free-agent safety signing in spring and was expected to compete with DeMarcco Hellams and a rookie opposite Jessie Bates. Rookie Xavier Watts won that competition, and Fuller was a surprise cut despite being heavily involved in training camp. Fuller did not have to clear waivers, enabling a roster maneuver associated with Trice's injured reserve designation. Fuller had a down 2024 season with the Panthers but is familiar to Raheem Morris from their Rams tenure and offers coverage experience as a third or fourth safety.
Fuller was the team's veteran free agent signing this spring at safety, where he figured to compete with DeMarcco Hellams and a rookie opposite Jessie Bates. Rookie Xavier Watts seems to have won that competition, but Fuller was very much in the mix all summer and was thus a surprise cut. Because he didn't have to clear waivers, observers including our own Aaron Freeman wondered if his release was a way of jockeying to put a player on injured reserve,
Though he had a down season for the Panthers in 2024, Fuller is a familiar face for Raheem Morris from their shared Rams days and a quality enough player in coverage to be an asset for Atlanta as a third or fourth safety, depending on the pecking order. His extensive starting experience makes him a candidate to step in if Watts falters, as well, and now the Falcons are back to have a robust, four man safety room.
