Dak, 32, hopeful to keep playing into his 40s
"Forties would be a good number,"
"Obviously, I've been through some injuries; played very physical in college so if I can get to 40 playing at the standard that I want, yeah, that would be awesome."
"has definitely changed. I can see it more realistically now,"
"And I think as much as anything, the fun and the peace that this game still gives me 10 years in is going to be hard [to move on from]. You can't supplement it, so as long as I can do this at a level that I'm proud and happy with, I'll keep trying."
Dak Prescott is 32 and in his 10th year as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback. He said playing into his forties would be desirable if he can perform at a standard he wants. Prescott is signed through 2028, when he will be 35. His career includes a fractured and dislocated ankle in 2020, a broken thumb in 2022, and a hamstring avulsion in 2024 that required surgery. He referenced veteran quarterbacks who played into their 40s and cited current examples like Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco. Prescott needs 150 passing yards to pass Troy Aikman for second in team history and one win to move into third place in franchise victories.
