Carson Beck's final collegiate play was a deep pass intercepted by Indiana's Jamari Sharpe, which sealed Miami's 27-21 loss in the College Football Playoff national championship. Beck finished with 232 yards and a touchdown and had driven the Hurricanes to the Indiana 41 with 51 seconds remaining. Miami faced a Cover-2 defense and attempted a shot to receiver Keelan Marion; Marion did not turn for the ball and the throw drifted inside to Sharpe. Coach Mario Cristobal called it the right call that went wrong. Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson praised Beck's season, leadership and resilience despite coming up one play short.
