"The Bears went 7-6 in 2025, and Rivera fired longtime head coach Justin Wilcox after a blowout loss to Stanford in the Big Game. Rivera hired fellow former Cal player Tosh Lupoi away from his post as Oregon's defensive coordinator to replace Wilcox. Rivera was 102-103-2 as an NFL coach between Carolina and Washington, leading the Panthers along with MVP Cam Newton to Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, where they lost to Denver."
