Bill Belichick explains 'simple' reason why he decided to ban Patriots scout at UNC
""It's clear that I'm not welcome there around their facility, so they're not welcome at ours," Belichick said."
""Why would we let them in our home after how he's been treated since he left? We will help our players, but being treated fairly is a two-way street," a UNC athletic source told the Herald, via text," Kyed and Callahan wrote."
""When reached by ESPN, North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi said, 'Good luck' and then hung up the phone. UNC did not respond to an ESPN request for comment," Kahler wrote."
A Patriots scout was banned from attending North Carolina football practices after North Carolina informed New England personnel they could not view practices at Chapel Hill. Bill Belichick said he banned Patriots personnel because he felt unwelcome at Patriots facilities and therefore would not allow Patriots staff at UNC. The prohibition was communicated the day before a scheduled scout visit. North Carolina general manager Michael Lombardi responded tersely when contacted. The situation follows a fractured relationship between Belichick and the Patriots since his departure. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel publicly declined to escalate the matter.
