"CINCINNATI -- First, the cheers rang out from inside Paycor Stadium. Then an hour or so later, they boomed through the Cincinnati Bengals locker room, a raucous celebration that boomed through the walls. For the first time in his life, Bengals offensive lineman Cody Ford heard a whole venue chanting his name. On a day that featured several touchdowns in a 37-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals, no play was celebrated more than his 21-yard reception late in the third quarter."
"At first, Ford figured he was just a 6-foot-3, 345-pound decoy. Then as the play unfolded, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw the ball where nobody in the stadium expected him to. "We don't ever get to touch the ball," Ford said. "We get the hardest jobs of the day. Then, I finally get to touch the ball and it's a dream come true.""
Cincinnati defeated the Arizona Cardinals 37-14, improving to 6-10 and earning a second straight victory. Cody Ford, ordinarily an offensive lineman, split out as a receiver and made a 21-yard catch late in the third quarter that drew the loudest celebration of the day. Joe Burrow delivered the pass unexpectedly, creating space for Ford to rumble through tacklers toward the goal line. Ford described finally touching the ball as a dream come true after performing the offensive line's usual blocking duties. Coach Zac Taylor revealed the play came from formations practiced with Ford as an extra lineman while Noah Fant was questionable with an ankle issue.
