Chris DeMarco departed the Golden State Warriors after 13 years to become head coach of the New York Liberty, formally accepting the role in early December. His final appearance with Golden State came after the Warriors' 120-107 win over the Nets at Barclays Center, where teammates celebrated him with a bottle-drenching after his closing remarks. Liberty general manager Jonathan Kolb praised DeMarco's decade-long championship experience, clarity, adaptability, and player-development expertise. The Liberty parted ways with Sandy Brondello after she led the team to a title, but New York struggled this past season and was eliminated by the Phoenix Mercury in the opening playoff round. DeMarco joined Golden State in 2012.
