Kevin Boyle, celebrated high school coach, will transition from Montverde Academy to Spire Academy in Ohio after the current season. His decision comes amid evolving dynamics in high school and college basketball, particularly following the introduction of NIL compensation in 2021. Boyle noted that players now require new strategies and professional representation to optimize their growth and financial opportunities. Over 14 years at Montverde, he cultivated a powerhouse program, mentoring notable NBA talents, including the likes of Cade Cunningham and Joel Embiid.
The entire landscape of high school basketball has changed. There are new platforms for players to showcase themselves. Interest is growing. Expectations have changed, with players now having professional representation.
'This new situation necessitates different strategies, and Jonathan Ehrenfeld, our managing partner at Spire Academy, has the vision and commitment to help us forge the path forward.'
I want to thank Montverde for fourteen great years and Jon Hopman and David Bernatavitz for all their support.
Boyle, a four-time Naismith High School Coach of the Year and future Hall of Famer, has coached three No. 1 NBA draft picks.
