"There's a lot of games left in the season. We've won big. We've lost big. Some nights are going to be bad. Some nights are going to be great. But regardless, you have to try to get better the next day. I think that's what allows you, I guess you can say, be resilient. It's hard, obviously, but the best teams do it, and that's who we're trying to be."
"When you win the championship and you start the way we started, it comes with the territory. I think it gives you a unique opportunity to really improve through that. ... It's a competitive privilege to be a team that other teams are up to play for."
Oklahoma City Thunder won the NBA title last season and began the current season 24-1, matching the best 25-game start in league history. The team later lost three times to the Spurs in two weeks, including a 15-point loss on Christmas Day, then suffered a 124-97 defeat to the 12-23 Charlotte Hornets. The Thunder are 30-7 overall and 98-21 since the start of last season but have gone 6-6 since the 24-1 start. MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander urged against overreacting and stressed daily improvement and resilience. Coach Mark Daigneault said the championship and hot start make opponents rise to the challenge and provide an opportunity to improve.
